All our hard work paid off when we opened our own user led residential Centre at Pecket Well near Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire.

Over three days in March 1992 over 400 people from all over Britain came to celebrate the opening.

We worked hard to publicise the launch and the event was a great success. People who came signed our Opening Day Book which became our first publication.

So many people came we had to get the police to close off the road for our official opening ceremony!

The Guardian Education sent a reporter and wrote the following article about us:

‘Back to basics’ college to open its doors on a new world:
John Glyn, signwriter and basic educator tutor, came down from his ladder, backed across the road, glanced up at the fascia board on which he was working and then gazed across to the dark tower of Heptonstall church.
