Pecket’s legacy

Daniel Sudron, Archivist came to visit our office in June 2013 to look at our archive materials and decide if they could be preserved by West Yorkshire Archive Service (WYAS). Dan chatted to Pecket members and we were delighted with his response:

Physical archives find a home! 083

“The West Yorkshire Archive Service is delighted to be able to work with the Pecket Learning Community to ensure the preservation of the organisation’s records. Pecket Learning Community’s archives will be held in Halifax at the WYAS Calderdale office. For further information about the Archives please see the West Yorkshire Archive Service’s website at www.archives.wyjs.org.uk.”

Some founder members, Directors and Steering Group members delivered the physical archives to Dan during the last week of May 2014 – the last week of our charity, company and organisation.  At the start of this project we hoped to publish our oral history.   We did this and so much more – our digital archives are preserved in this website and our physical archives and our famous wall hanging are now in the capable hands of West Yorkshire Archive Service.  We are truly proud of our achievements and delighted to hand them over.

We have never needed red carpets – the loading bay at the back of Halifax library was fine with us!

In true Pecket style not one Director but three Director’s signed the official handover documents!  We finished as we started – sharing responsibility and joy! Lesley showed Dan our unique catalogue system; Billy B, Michelle and Billy C helped deliver boxes – did one last check to make sure our beloved Wall Hanging was in the collection and then all signed on the dotted line.  Job done and congratulations to us all!
